History
The history of the Cosmos and Udari are spread across five epochs. Each event shapes the world and its future. Tread on, for each footprint, no matter how small, can hold the greatest significance.

Back to Lore (Main)

CreationThe universe, Udari, has just been rebirthed, likely for its last time. During this time period Amaranthinos reawakens. His thoughts and memories from his past have been forgotten, but the knowledge and wisdom he has accumulated still lies within him. Quickly understanding his role and purpose he sets out to manipulate the elements provided, shaping the rest of his realm around him. Creating the stars, planets, and other celestial objects in his domain.
Traveling to the center of his realm he pours all his power and a portion of his soul into an object not much unlike an egg. It is a perfectly round sphere with the sheen of a lustrous pearl. Inside, a creature crafted of his own likeness with the power to grow and one day become like him, a god. To protect it, a world quickly formed around it. It was a planet meant to be his place of growth and nurture until the time comes when he is ready; he gives it the name, Udari. Just then, three goddesses appear and announce to him they are his wards come to assist him, primarily in the nurture of his child. His name will be Zephra. Return to Epoch I | Return to Top

Birth of ZephraThe three wards to Amaranthinos, Medok, Helo, and Fathi, invite him to visit with them upon Udari. There they witness the other dragons in the midst of a celebration they hold every several thousand years when a certain set of stars and planets realign. It is a grand festival full of fun, dancing, food, and games. However, this time something else is happening. The dragon emperor Pommym and his wife Ynnlyth are ready to witness the birth of their latest child.
In a fiery cavern somewhere below their temple is a sacred place, known as the Forge of Creation. Upon its altar rests a single egg wriggling about. Its father and mother stand over it while nine other brothers and sisters wait to bear witness. Amaranthinos and his wards have taken possession of some to get a closer look of the event about to unfold. Medok to Niodyt, Fathi to Navni, Helo to Phyne, and Amaranthinos to Cemberiss. When finally, the egg was hatched, a tiny dragon burst forth, taking its first breath of fresh air. Another leapt into the air, Brieldresdyn, transformed and flew upward to the mouth of the cavern outside. He roared out across the land announcing the birth of their new prince, Radekthais. For Amaranthinos and his three wards, this was the birth of Zephra. The soul of his child rested within the heart of this newborn dragon. Return to Epoch I | Return to Top

Charge of the GoddessesIn time, Radekthais succeeded his father as new emperor. Even though he was the youngest, only he among his siblings possessed the heart of a leader. However, even leaders face their own challenges and trials. The goddesses’ duties were to assist him when needed. For this purpose, the goddesses placed pillars, massive obelisks that towered above the lands reaching the heavens. They were so tall that not even the dragons, capable of flight, have seen how far they ascend. In the centuries that followed, Radekthais paid a visit to each, seeking the guidance of the goddesses.
At the Obelisk of Medok, he asked for her strength in defeating a great monster. Afterward his brother Tirvoim came to him. Together they established an army of the most elite fighters. In doing so they assaulted and defeated the massive mechanical beast that came to and assaulted the land in Ghetsa. Return to Epoch I | Return to Top

Trials in the HeavensThe threat of the Destroyer had been continuing for eons. Queen Aurara has lost much to her brother’s devastation. However, by this time she has realized that his purpose is inevitable, and the only thing left for her to do is to ensure the rebirth of the Cosmos when its time finally comes. To decide who will succeed her, the queen summons here 13 most powerful constituents, gods of their own realms out among her own creation. They will face a series of trials, one of strength, one of wisdom, and one of courage, to determine who of them is worthy of taking her place. She already has her eyes set firmly on one.
Lord of the Bugbears Adinn, Lady of the Lizardfolk Ajutess, Lord of the Constructs Aero, Lord of the Ogres Aegrok, Lady of the Sahuagin Adrina, Lady of the Aarakocra Ara, Lord of the Tieflings Angrinath, Lord of the Dragons Amaranthinos, Lady of the Fey Arlette, Lady of the Spiderians Arkhillia, Lord of the Dwarves Araznurum, Lord of the Orcs Arhakama, and Lady of the Humans Arunaire, were all in attendance. One by one they faced their trials. A trial strength pitted them against each other. By the end of the trial only Angrinath, Amaranthinos, Arlette, Araznurum, Arhakama, and Arunaire remained. A trial of wisdom forced them to escape from a room using nothing more than their wits. By this trial’s end, Angrinath and Arlette were left behind. The trial of courage however forced each of the remaining four to face a mortal life. Judged by the judge of gods, Ohtli. She determined the weight of their heart against a single one of her feathers. In the end, only Amaranthinos’ heart remained in perfect balance. Return to Epoch II | Return to Top

Insurrection of the ElementsAmaranthinos has been summoned to the Queen’s palace in Voluspa, resting in the center of the Cosmos. Awaiting the beginning of the trials that will pit 13 gods against each other, a secret meeting first takes place in a secret room.
Under Queen Aurara's instruction and duties of the goddesses, the elements had been unleashed upon Udari. Beasts from worlds and realms of primal power poured forth through portals placed deep within the earth. Their power was something the dragons had never seen, and they were powerless against them. The strength of the elements against them were unmatched, and the elementals found the opportunity to subjugate them. By offering a portion of their power in exchange for their loyalty and labors, the elementals would agree to not destroy or conquer them.
Ulzene struck a deal with the Primal Consortium and did so to save his people from outright annihilation. As a result of the deal, the elementals imparted their power upon the dragons and changed them forever. No longer were the dragons unified, but their differences were seen in the color of their scales. The once brown color of their scales changed to hues of red, blue, green, and white. Even some metallic colors emerged: brass, bronze, copper, and silver. Even Ulzene’s scales had turned gold. Afterward, the dragons divided the land and set up regions of their own near the portals that granted them and their scales their color. Cementing the borders that defined them, the nine regions were permanently defined. Return to Epoch II | Return to Top

War of the MagiAs the ages passed the original deal that Ulzene struck with the elementals was constantly amended. However, he and the rest of dragonkind were seemingly forced to agree. The primes had demanded sacrifices be made on the days preceding the festival. It was a dark time for dragons. The divided nations found themselves under the oppressive thumb of the elementals, and demand for sacrifice only increased. Their salvation lay with only one whose scales remained brown. He to his people was considered pure, but only a few remained who knew of the times before the elementals came. Nommares had become a prophet to his fellow dragons. He along with his disciples and at the leadership of Emperor Ulzene, the nations of dragons finally united and launched an assault on the primal realms.
The power the dragons had gained over the elements was enough. Their collective strength, wisdom, and courage had shown through. Using the power of opposing elements against the primes they defeated them and their lieutenants. The battles were costly and were not without sacrifice. Even Nommare’s disciples had to lend their hand. Harmonizing the cores of the elements they turned their dying essence into a gemstone of immense power. Their sacrifice to do so was necessary, but was the only way to truly subjugate the primes. The war had been won. Return to Epoch II | Return to Top

The SealIn the years that followed the War of the Magi, a series of gateways were constructed in the cavern where the Forge of Creation rested. Nine pedestals were put into place. Each one was designed to work in conjunction with the dragonstones, to forever seal off the portals to the elemental realms. In addition, two dragons were born of black scales. One of Verta and Cergon, red dragons. The other, believed to be of the parents of Niodyt and Nommares. The two black dragons, Kyndrinth and Firlynia, had become outcasts and struggled to find a home of their own. Lord Maldrand however, leader of the brass dragons, agreed to subdivide his lands and make a new home for them east of the river. This portion of the land was then renamed Vaedhe. In time they grew and vowed to have children of their own, but the first egg would never hatch.
It would take quite some time to complete the construction, however the seal had become a double-edged sword. In doing so something else had happened to the dragons above, although Nommares would never live to see the result. His strength was finally given to an unseen Master. His scales turned black before being dissolved by the altar itself. Shortly thereafter another panic struck the land. The first to witness this was Lord Maldrand as his newborn daughter, Rin, did not possess wings and was unable to create her own avatar. Reports of the strange younglings being born increased. They were called dragonborn. They could not develop an avatar, possessed no wings, and their size, strength, and longevity were far inferior to other dragons. This was the punishment, they supposed, for dabbling in the power of the gods. Return to Epoch II | Return to Top

Rise of the Jek'homAnother war has arisen. Zaric and Kyrin, the dragonborn offspring of Kyndrinth and Firlynia had just witnessed their father’s murder. Believing the red dragons responsible for this act of treason, they set off on an adventure in search of vengeance. They found allies in the brass dragon leader Maldrand and his daughter Rin. Coupled with the power of a black gemstone capable of turning itself into a deadly, gleaming scythe, they believed they had all they needed to assault Andro. This would be the first appearance of the dragonstones in their splendor, but more would soon follow. Recovered and distributed by someone unwittingly, the holders of the dragonstones would be the only ones capable of stopping Zaric and his brother.
It would seem Zaric himself would be defeated several times, but with his newfound ally, the black dragonstone, he keeps coming back. With each death he gained more power for his Master within. After one final death, the Master finally reveals himself to smite the nine other protectors of Udari. Here upon Udari, they call him the Jek’hom. But to the rest of the Cosmos, he is the destroyer. With his avatar here before them, they fought valiantly but were ultimately defeated. With all the dragonstones in hand the destroyer, he is finally able to face Amaranthinos and rise to the heavens above at the Bifrost Gateway within the Forge of Creation. Return to Epoch III | Return to Top

The ShatteringThe destroyer, Jek’hom faces off against Amaranthinos. Weakened by the trials he has just faced he is unprepared to deal with this threat. Thankfully the nine other heroes had weakened him enough to prevent him from killing Amaranthinos, providing enough time for his wards to come to his aid.
The destroyer is vicious and savage, determined to defeat both Amaranthinos and his wards. As the battle waged on, Medok, Helo, and Fathi were eventually defeated. However, their sacrifice gave Amaranthinos enough time to prepare a strike that would destroy him and the black gemstone. Defeated, the gem fell from the heavens shattering into a thousands shards above it, showering Udari with pieces of the black stone. Return to Epoch III | Return to Top
|

The SunderingThe gemstone was not the only thing that shattered. Upon the death of the three goddesses their pillars so too did crumble. The protective pearl that covered the heavens of Udari had been broken, and revealed for all the cosmos to see. Amaranthinos laid to rest their angelic bodies in the ruins of the obelisks that lay scattered for miles around. Suddenly where he stood, the ground beneath him began to quake and grow with a massive amount of intensity. Rising above, he watched as the land was ripped apart into three separate pieces forming new continents. The speed at which they separated, twisted, and transformed drastically changed the shape of the landscape. A massive internal ocean now separated the graves of his wards. In the center, a small island is that is left of the area they once called the Arlin Sanctuary.
Each land had been permanently changed. Ylri, once a beautiful landscape, erupted in volcanic fury, blanketing the land in ash. Vaedhe’s main river, reversed course. Cheldrynth’s mountain erupted with light and the land was drastically malformed. Gheta’s high plateaus plummeted into the sea forming a chain of islands. In Odrois, the many rivers had changed course and direction, lakes were either destroyed or conjoined. The main waterfall had even widened to be several miles long, and a new mountain range had formed nearby. In Meofi, the river that divided the north and south sections widened, destroying a shrine to Navni and Nymmas. East of that a new island also appeared from the ocean. Ievo was split in half, the western portion completely flooded. In Andro, the landscape that was once sloping was turned into cliffs that divided much of the southwestern part of the area. The tiny mountains in Aemrebeph turned to massive mesas that towered over the land, while the one tower of stone that once stood sunk into the lake below. Finally, Phaphnede was also ripped apart into two sections as much of it fell into the sea.
It would seem all would not be lost. Helo must have seen this coming. The brilliant egg of an otherworldly creature remains within the wreckage. He smiled, as he too knew of this otherworldly creature. Return to Epoch III | Return to Top

The BargainAmaranthinos stood as much of his universe and the dragon homeworld of Udari lay devastated. It will heal in time, but for the others he has just faced in the trials, all is likely to be lost. The destroyer will come for them soon. Until then, their only salvation will be in the hands of Amaranthinos. Each had gifted them him with a seed that they would he hope Amaranthinos would allow refuge upon Udari. Lord Araznurum had given him the seed of the dwarves. Lord Arhakama had given him the seed of the orcs. And Lady Arunaire had given him the seed of the humans. Queen Aurara had even requested that he take the seed of the elves, finally revealing that it was she that set this plan in motion to challenge him. Unfortunately, her best and most loyal, Medok, Helo, and Fathi were lost as a result. Amaranthinos was deeply saddened, but understood, and knew that his preparations for the end were only just beginning.
Taking each of the seeds he planted them in a location where they can gather their strength and thrive. The dwarven seed was planted deep within the heart of the frozen north. The orcish seed was planted in the middle of a harsh wasteland. The human seed was planted within a massive forest. Finally, the elven seed was planted high in a mountain valley. Their power will be needed in the ages to come. Return to Epoch III | Return to Top

Shalendra ReturnsThe seed that was planted in the mountain valley of Odrois had become the home of the elves. As the seed took place a massive tree sprouted in its place. The seed’s power was remarkable. Through it a race of elves had been born, but time when viewed from outside seemed to speed along, but inside many events had started to take place. Over the course of several years the elven society grew and changed. Amaranthinos and the remaining dragonborn population that survived the sundering watched in wonder. However, none were truly able to investigate. A magical field surrounded the entire area, disallowing any mortal to pass through. Amaranthinos however, with his divine power was able to pass beyond the barrier and watched them grow, isolated to the area in the mountains. It took 12 years for the seed’s power to dissipate, finally allowing them to venture beyond the confines of this prison. This was the time they needed to gain their strength. It would be needed before encountering the dragons.
During this time Amaranthinos watched as this same circumstance happened for the other three seeds he planted in as well. The orcs created their society in a land now called the Valley of Kogan. The humans got their foothold in the Clarenwood Coast. The dwarves started their homeland underneath the mountain of Phaphnede’s Sundered Coast. Finally, the elves decided to rename their new home in the mountains, Shalendra. As soon as the walls came down however, none wasted time venturing out and spreading across the land. Although their first encounters were met with fear and concern, dragonkind were forced to accept them. Many however, disliked their intrusion. Among those was Karnath. Recently born in the northern caverns of a caustic cave, and grew in solidarity, his other black dragon brethren were found few in number; a result of a costly war referred to now as the Black Campaign.
These turmoils were added to the glowing threat of the other races that popped up from time to time as well. Having intruded on the dragon’s land ages ago, the bugbears, gnomes, halflings, kolbolds, lizardfolk, ogres, orcs, sahuagin, and tieflings, have caused their share of issues as well. Three CometsSeveral years later, the races of Udari bore witness to three comets that crashed down upon land. However, they were not like some meteor that came out of the sky and struck the earth. They came all at once, and then split in different directions landing upon places where the obelisks once stood, leaving behind massive craters. When they investigated them however, all they could see was a large stone resembling that of a meteor or comet. Its construction was a strange metal that seemed to emanate a divine power.
Some considered these stones signs of good luck, others, a bad omen for things to come. Return to Epoch IV | Return to Top

War of the AncientsThe conflict between the dragons has sparked a worldwide war between the ancient dragons of the past and the eldest and most powerful of the other races. Karnath, the youngest of the last known dragons and the current emperor, Urzio clash. One side bent on obliteration, the other seeking to control. Some dragons do not agree with either side and seek out the others for a resolution. The white dragons of Odrois visit the Wood Elves of Calestar Haven, the main cause for much of the conflict. Together they recruit the strongest warriors on the island: Hagwin Amastacia, Paelias Holimion, Veris Meliamne, and Ivellios Xiloscient.
During the war, there were many casualties on both sides, a conflict that continued for many years. Even so, Hagwin and his team were able to earn the favor of many of the disparate dragon clans and form an alliance that ultimately forged three factions: the black, the gold, and everyone else. Not many however had the stomach to take down their emperor who was seemingly corrupted by the war’s efforts, no longer seeking control or even diplomacy, but only for the sheer hatred of Karnath. Karnath seemingly felt the same, and by the end only sought Urzio’s throne. Both must be dealt with. Return to Epoch IV | Return to Top
|

Dragon's EndThe battles had reached their peak, and many of the last remaining leaders of the dragon clans had perished. The only ones left were a handful of loyal dragonborn to each side, Karnath, Urzio, Hagwin’s team, and Urzio’s three wives. Senzi, Matru, and Agni, all current wives to the Lord Dragon Emperor Urzio. However, by this point, any feelings or loyalty they once had for Urzio had long since left them. Especially Agni, who found new companionship in Hagwin in the years preceding.
In a desperate effort, they formulated a plan to banish the two, Urzio and Karnath, to another dimension where they would be free to battle each other for all eternity if they so desired. Senzi took the skies to combat the two, forcing them in the path where the portal would be formed while Matru and Agni would lend their sacrifice to open it. Their plan was successful, but not without losing some of the greatest and noble dragons and elves. Only Hagwin, Paelias, and Ivellios lived long enough to return home.
The war was over, and the last of the ancient dragons perished with it. Many dragonborn that remained went into hiding in the coming years, fearful of the alliances they chose. It would take some time before the world would heal from these wounds. Return to Epoch IV | Return to Top

Return to Calestar HavenHagwin, Paelias, and the injured Ivellios returned to their home of Calestar Haven. While Paelias settled into a small village where he would quietly forge armor, Hagwin felt a loneliness not felt in a while since his relationship with Agni. In time, he eventually fell in love with a girl named Caelynn. A curious and beautiful girl with an odd birthmark on her cheek. When time had come, they married and settled in, but when they desired to have a child, they went before their goddess Elion to pray. Like any other elf, this was a simple prayer, but they were not expecting to see Elion’s avatar before them. She denied the couple, stating she no longer had the power to grant their wish. Her power of life waning from deep seeded corruption that had taken hold while Hagwin was away. To make matters worse, this same corruption had affected the members of the council, including Hagwin’s own sister, queen Anastrianna. Nevertheless, the birthmark on Caelynn’s cheek was Elion’s blessing to conceive the child of their own accord, a commandment that by elven law would otherwise never be broken, for it was a grave sin.
The couple spoke to the council of what they learned, but the thought of breaking such a commandment was blasphemous. The Queen commanded no such action, birthmark or not, would ever occur. However, for the couple, their love was too great, and they had their child in secret. Hagwin’s trusted friend Ivellios was summoned to deliver the baby. However, Ivellios as part of the council informed the queen of their sin. The couple and baby were hunted down. While Hagwin managed to escape, Caelynn was captured and imprisoned in the Ysildea Catacombs. The baby, Naill was marked for death, but was never found. Return to Epoch V | Return to Top
|

ExileIn the years that followed, more elves began appearing with similar birthmarks. The desire for companionship was especially strong with them and their desires, sin or not, could no longer be denied. In an effort to cleanse the island, the queen ordered all those with birthmarks to be exiled to the mainland. Any of those who did not agree with her new decree were exiled as well.
The elves sailed to the nearby land of Meofi and found a small fishing village where some humans had started colonizing. The elves that came in were initially welcomed into the village, but over a brief period of time they eventually took complete control, nearly pushing out all of the humans there. Now calling it Haera Port, the new governor Jandar Galenodel established it as a center of trade and commerce for the continent of Ferathi and the rest of the world. Some elves saw what was happening and found dishonor in the practice that was forming. They left to establish their own village further inland, Siora, mirroring Calestar Haven. Faelar Village is to Alavara Hold as Siora is to Haera Port. Is history beginning to repeat itself? Return to Epoch V | Return to Top

New BeginningsThe world of Udari has settled into its new form. The dragons are all presumably gone. The Jek’hom had been vanquished. Various races are spread throughout the world. A world of fantastical adventures has been born.
The history at this point however remains still to be written. You are now part of that history. Where will you take it? Return to Epoch V | Return to Top
